Trustee of Labour

The Trustees of the work (also Reich Trustee of work) were a on May 19, introduced in 1933 by Reich law instance that should mediate in unrest in factories between entrepreneurs and workers. A total of 22 trustees were appointed, who were all the Reich Ministry of Labor reports directly.

The kingdom of Trustees of the work were part of the working entrepreneurial and operational co-ordination of the company during the period of National Socialism.

The trustees were recruited usually from the private sector, public employment and economic administrations or from the Industry and Commerce (IHK ). The appointment of a trustee was one year ( from 1 May each year) and could be renewed every year.

Tasks

The responsibilities of the trustees were:

  • Fixing the tariff orders and monitoring their implementation
  • Maintenance of industrial peace
  • Arbitration of disputes
  • Formation of the trust councils
  • Monitoring and compliance with the rules of procedure
  • Participation in the social honor jurisdiction
  • Disclosure requirement on the socio-political developments in their economic zones compared with the Ministry of Labour through to the Reich Chancellery
