Tryo

Tryo is a reggae band from France that uses mostly acoustic instruments for their music.

Band History

Tryo was founded in 1995 by musicians Guizmo, Manu and Mali. Guizmo and Manu had previously played in a band together, learned in a Parisian youth club know the third guitarist and began the first appearance experiments as reggae group. As early as next year she made her first tour of Brittany and several appearances at music festivals. In 1997, the band got appreciation by percussionist Daniel, the band's sound with rhythm increased.

The following year, she released her first album " Mamagubida ", which they produced themselves. Since the radio station wanted to take only singles with video clip, they had to sell the album itself. It sold in the first few months over 15,000 times. Due to the success Sony has been aware of the band, and shortly thereafter signed a contract Tryo, who assured them great independence. From then on they also produced music videos, which contributed to their popularity. In 2000 the second album ( French: "You have to be active") appeared called " Faut qu'ils s'activent ". The subsequent European tour with the artists group " Les Arrosès " is available on DVD. In 2003 and 2004 two albums were recorded (2003: Grain de sable, 2004: De bouches à oreille ) again.

Style

The reggae sound Tryo largely dispenses with typical instruments such as keyboards, bass or drums. Instead, the musicians play three acoustic guitars, supplemented by a little percussion. The rhythm is created primarily by the stop technique. The polyphonic singing in French harmonizes with the guitar.

The lyrics are humorous and politically, the songs provocative and startling. Even the classic reggae topics are not left out. In " C'est du roots" it says " It is necessary that the music is involved, therefore Tryo stand up and make policy." Tryo are members of the group " Solidarité Tibet " and gather at their concerts signatures, for instance for underage prisoners.
