Tsai Ming-liang

Tsai Ming - Liang (Chinese蔡明亮, Pinyin Cai Mingliang, born October 27, 1957 in Kuching, Malaysia ) is a provider of on Taiwan Chinese- Malaysian film director.

After his studies he began making films as a television director. Even with his second film Vive l' Amour - Long Live Love 1994 he won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. For his film The River, he received the Silver Bear at the Berlinale 1997.

Inspired by François Truffaut and his of frequent lead actor Jean-Pierre Léaud, playing in all the films Tsai Ming - Liang, the actor Lee Kang -sheng the male lead. In 2009 he received for Visage, which he directed, among others, Léaud, Jeanne Moreau and Fanny Ardant, an invitation to compete in the 62nd International film festival in Cannes.
