Tsampa

Famous Tampa ( Tib: རྩམ་པ་, Wylie: Rtsam pa) is a Tibetan staple food. Famous Tampa is flour made from roasted grains, usually barley ( nas Rtsam ), rare wheat ( large Rtsam ) or rice ( bras Rtsam ).

Preparation

Famous Tampa is traditionally prepared with tea or Po Cha ( butter tea ).

Famous Tampa is quick and easy to prepare, which is why Sherpas, nomads and other travelers like to eat. The famous Tampa is filled into a bowl and poured over tea, from the drunk part and the rest is shaped with the famous Tampa to a dough-like mass. By the previous roasting this dough is edible without further baking or cooking.

You can also pour the tea first; In any case, you need a certain level of skill to achieve the correct ratio of the famous Tampa and liquid.

The two materials are usually mixed with the fingers. It is useful to add yak butter to enhance the taste and stability.

In the western latitudes there is a modification of the Tibetan Essweise of Tsampas. It can be prepared, for example, with water and a little soy sauce until a dickklebriger pulp is produced which can be shaped well. Famous Tampa is eaten with vegetables, goat cheese and any other foods together. It is considered as a substitute for bread, rolls, etc.
