Lenzerheide

Lenzerheide ( [ tʃiə̯rtʃən ]? / I ) was until December 31, 2008, a municipality in the district of Chur Walden, District Plessur in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.

January 1, 2009 merged with the municipality of Lenzerheide Praden the new community Tschiertschen - Praden.

Geography

Lenzerheide is on the left, south side of the valley of the Schanfiggs, 7 km (air line ) southeast of Chur. The municipal area extends from the Plessur deep (770 m above sea level. M. ) to the peaks of the White Horn Necklace. On the river itself has Lenzerheide only a few hundred meters between the mouths of Pajüelbach and Sagenbach share; uphill however, the territory of the former municipality widened rapidly and covered almost the entire catchment area of the two streams, with the Sagenbachtal branches to Kote 1320 in the two source valleys Farur and Urden. The eastern boundary ran from the Arosa White Horn ( 2653 m) above Plattenhorn and Tschirpen to Parpaner White Horn, the southernmost and 2824 m above sea level. M. also marked the highest point of the municipality. From there, led the limit on the Parpaner Black Horn ( 2683 m) to the Gürgaletsch ( 2441 m) upstream Täliflue, the northwestern foothills of the Lenzerheide Rothorn chain. The municipality included in addition to the scattered village of Lenzerheide, between Pajüel and Sagenbach situated on the sloping hillside to the northeast, and the farm groups Clüs, FUPS and Furgglis and the alpine settlements in Farur and Urdental.

Neighboring communities were Praden, Lüen, Molinis, Arosa, Vaz / Obervaz, Parpan and Churchill Walden.

Coat of arms

Description: Azure, a pile, occupied by a sechsstrahligem blue star, beseitet of two golden ears. After the church seal from 1825, which showed a split shield with a star in reversed colors. The star is the coat of arms of the circle Chur Walden, at the request of the municipality, the spikes were added. Ten colors of the federal court.

History

Originally mentioned as early as the 8th century Cercene place of novels was inhabited what today still remember many field names. The occupied since 1222 estates of the monastery Chur Walden established the membership of the rule Strassberg, later to the court Churwalden Ten Court Federal. About 1530 Lenzerheide joined the Reformation; End of the 16th century it went from the Romanesque over to the German language.

Population

Lenzerheide is one of about 220 mostly reformed inhabitants. The majority of the population lives directly or indirectly from tourism, mainly in the winter season.

Economy and infrastructure

The village has a primary school, a Protestant parish office, the office of the Tourist Organization Schanfigg tourism, two hotels and a multipurpose hall.

Close relations were traditionally the neighboring community Praden before the merger. Municipality, fire department and school association had been jointly organized.

Traffic

1893-94 the Tschiertscherstrasse from Chur over Passugg and Praden was built to Lenzerheide. The community is connected with the postal bus from Chur to Lenzerheide to the public transport network.

Tourism

Lenzerheide offers 25 km of slopes in winter with two new quad chairlifts ( Forest panel and Hüenerchöpf, 2001) and two ski lifts ( Gürgaletsch and Jochalp ). The amount recognized for the 2013/14 season ski connection Arosa Lenzerheide has been controversial locally. Of the opponents serious interventions were feared in the landscape of Farur and Urdentals. Proponents emphasized contrast, the significant tourism benefits for the whole region, from the Lenzerheide also could benefit from a possible future connection to this new ski area in a significant way.

Attractions

Wooden houses in the Walser building tradition characterize the compact village center. Typical of Lenzerheide are on almost all older homes under the respective Gable elaborately painted house sayings that all of the Bible are almost removed. The Reformed Church is a Gothic building of the 15th century.
