The Zna (Russian Цна ) is a left, 451 km long tributary of the Moksha in the European part of Russia.
River
The Zna rises about 15 km north- west of Rschaksa in the southern part of the oblast Tambov. It flows initially in a northerly direction and reaches Tambov, where it is a popular destination. After the confluence of the Tschelnowaja approximately 60 km north of the Tambov Zna describes a wide left turn until shortly before Morshansk. Here she takes on the Kaschma and further flows through the northern area of Tambov Oblast.
Around 20 km south of Shatsk reached the Zna the Ryazan Oblast, the south-east they initially still flows through the north. 10 km to the confluence of the Schatscha she again describes a wide left turn until shortly before Sassowo. After another 20 km, it then flows into the Moksha.
Use
The Zna is navigable for 47 km during the ice-free period from the end of November / early December to late March / early April and is used, among others, air -cushion vehicles for the transport of persons. In the Soviet Union ships sailed to Tambov.
The Zna is a quiet, gentle meandering river with many oxbow lakes, which is used for fishing and as a destination and for rafting.
Below Tambows the Zna is dammed up by several dams for electricity generation.
