Tsushima (Nagasaki)
Tsushima (Japanese対 马 市, -shi ) is a Japanese city, which includes the whole island of Tsushima and the sub-prefecture of Tsushima in the Korean Strait. It lies north of Nagasaki.
History
Near the island was 1905, the Battle of Tsushima instead.
The town was founded on March 1, 2004 through the merger of six to then independent Chō Izuhara (厳 原 町, chō ), Mitsushima (美 津 岛 町, chō ) and Toyotama (豊 玉 町, chō ) of the district Shimoagata, as well as mine ( 峰 町, -chō ), Kamiagata (上 県 町, -chō ) and Kamitsushima (上 対 马 町, -chō ) of the district Kamiagata. Both districts were disbanded and the city thus covers the whole island, as well as the entire sub-prefecture.
Economy
The main industries are fishing, pearling and tourism. Tsushima is connected by ferry with Hakata on Kyushu and Busan in South Korea. Busan and Guam ( U.S. island of the Marianas ) are twin cities of Tsushima.

Attractions
Izuhara, on the merger of all the places on Tsushima in 2004 with around 15 000 inhabitants, the largest city and main port of the island, was 700 years castle town of the royal family Sun Their graves are to be seen in the established 1615 Temple Banshoin on the outskirts of Izuhara whose gate the oldest surviving building in the entire island. Behind the temple is the third largest cemetery in Japan, which was terraced in a forest and is reached via a long, lined on both sides by stone lanterns stone staircase.
Izuhara is dubbed "the city of 10 000 stones ", which refers to the fact that all over the city remains of ancient walls are seen from large rubble. Many houses are built on just the same foundations and plinths. Among other remnants of old samurai houses are noteworthy in the city center at several points that are surrounded by massive stone walls.
On the outskirts of the remains of the Izuhara built in 1592 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi during a campaign to Korea fortress Kane Ishi Jo worth a visit. The castle was renovated in 1669.
