History

The club was founded on 29 April 1946. After some time in the Styrian subclasses Oststeiermark managed under the team sponsor " Sparkasse Hartberg " finally in 1978 the rise in the Styrian league.

Due to the immense strength at home was the TSV Hartberg long time as Cupspezialist who brought often higher -ranked teams stumble and tossed out of the Cup. Thus, in the season 1986/1987, as it made it to the Round of the OFB Cup and before the Wiener Sport - Club eliminated ( with Hans Krankl ) 1-0. A season later, 1987/1988 it was first champion in the Styrian League, finished in the relegation against the Carinthian master Wolfberger AC ( 0:6 away and 2:3 at home ) and the Upper Austrian champions SV Ried ( 1-0 at home and 7: 3 away ) 2nd place, which is not eligible for the promotion.

Again, a season later, 1988/1989, the TSV Hartberg was briefly Austria widely known as one sensational rise as a national league team to the quarter- finals of the OFB Cup. Along the way, we beat in the 2nd round of the SV Feldkirchen 2-1, in the Round of the Erstdivisionär SK Austria Klagenfurt 2-1 in the second round the Zweitdivisionär SV Spittal / Drau with 2:2 and 8:7 on penalties. In the quarterfinals, then one difference against the Erstdivisionär SV Austria Salzburg with 3:3 - the Hartberger already led 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 - and from 4:5 on penalties. In the season 1989/1990 TSV Hartberg was the second time champion in the Styrian league, but failed again in the rise of games against the now relegated Wolfberger AC (0-2 away and 2-2 at home ), and SV Ried ( 3:4 at home and 2:3 away ). The home defeat against SV Ried was the first after more than two years.

After four average seasons in the Styrian League ( final rankings 7th, 3rd, 2nd and 5th ) Sparkasse Hartberg was in season 1994/1995 for the third time master of the Styrian League and thus the team succeeded the long-awaited rise in the meantime as third- highest division of Austria re-established Regional center. In the same year the team under Gerald Gamperl reached the semi-finals of the sensational OFB Cup, where they just were subject to the DSV Leoben 0:1. Also in this Cup season threw the higher -ranked teams Hartberger out, including the first SC Wiener Neustadt (2nd Division ) in the Round of 3-2 after extra time in the second round of the SK Vorwärts Steyr ( 1st Division) with 0: 0 and 4-1 on penalties in the quarter-finals FavAC (then leader of the 2nd Division ) 1-0.

In the following season of 1995/1996 Hartberger managed as promoted the championship of the Regionalliga Mitte and thus the walkover and direct promotion to the second division rose, two years later, but as Tabellenelfter - due to a reform of the league and although you actually managed to avoid relegation would - again. In the 1998/1999 season champion was one of post again in the regional center. Since now the 2nd Division was renamed the First Division and was reduced to 10 clubs, you had a Barrage against the master of the Regionalliga West, the WSG Swarovski Wattens play. In these games, the rise Hartberger documents with 0:2 at home and 2:3 away and so were the Regionalliga Mitte receive.

In the 2005/06 season the team fixed three rounds remaining the championship again the Regional center and managed it after this League will be increased to 12 clubs, direct promotion to the First League. The TSV increased after just one season again immediately and plays the 2007/ 08 season again in the regional center. On the final day of the 2008/ 09 TSV succeeded, the renewed rise in the second-class First League. 2009/10 came with the nine first place to avoid relegation. This was fixed in the 31 lap when the TSV Hartberg 1:1 played against SC Rheindorf Altach and First Vienna FC 1894 against eventual champions FC Wacker Innsbruck 1-0 lost. In the 2010/11 season could be in the OFB Cup, after beating the SV Hall and the SV Sierning, ascend into the Cup knockout stages. There you got the SK Rapid Wien be drawn. This game lost the Styrian but clearly with 0:3 goals.

In the season 2011/2012 the Hartberger not come under coach Kurt Garger momentum and ranked only at end of table. Even a change of coach Walter Hörmann did not bring the desired result, so that the Styrian completed the championship as a tail light. Thus, the descent into the Regionalliga Mitte seemed sealed. After LASK Linz was part of the Bundesliga denied a license, Hartberg was given the chance to secure the preservation of the First League Relegation in two games against Grazer AK. The Hartberger reached away a 0-0 lead and the home match already 3-0 as GAK hooligans stormed the court in the 76th minute. In order to avoid relegation was done. Successful the club was in OFB Cup, where he was the SK Sturm Graz (4-2 aet ) ausschaltete in the quarterfinals away. Was not until the semi-finals for the Hartberger against the eventual Cup winners FC Red Bull Salzburg terminus (0-1).

Engaged in the summer of 2012 coach Andreas Moriggl Walter Hörmann succeeded, was replaced on October 15, 2012 by the long-standing OFB junior team coach Paul Gludovatz.
