TT Hellenic Postbank

TT Hellenic Postbank is a Greek Postal Savings Bank and the ELTA. TT are the initials of the previous designation Ταχυδρομικό Ταμιευτήριο ( Post Office Savings Bank ); the former English name was Greek Postal Savings Bank. The company benefited significantly from the commercial banks compared to the better -developed branch network in the mail.

History

The Law 265 of 1900 by Prince George of Greece, the Savings Bank was established on December 10, 1900 in Crete. Since 1902 passbooks are issued. 1914 moved the headquarters to Athens. Postbank funded in the 1920s during the Great Depression, numerous infrastructure projects of the Greek state.

Since 2002, the company is privately operated and is a public company since 2005, she is also formally a commercial bank and listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 2006.
