TT scale

The nominal size is a TT in the standards of European Model Railroads (NEM) and the standards of the National Model Railroad Association ( NMRA ) standard size for model trains. The standard gauge model with a track gauge of 1435 mm case has a model track width of 12 mm and is colloquially referred to as TT gauge. The scale is 1:120.

TT is an abbreviation of the table top, which means table surface, but mutatis mutandis said: fits on a table. The space requirement of the plants is lower than the nominal size H0 in 1:87 scale; other hand, more details are possible than with the next smaller nominal size N in scale 1:160. TT is therefore also known as trace the middle.

History

The nominal size TT was developed in the United States in 1946 by engineer Hal Joyce from Indiana and was founded by the persons (1945 ) by HP Products sold. In Germany it spread through the company Rokal in the west and Zeuke & Wegwerth in the east. After the bankruptcy of Rokal the late 1960s, the nominal size TT was virtually extinct in the Federal Republic. In the GDR and in the CMEA countries it spread itself against this by Zeuke & Wegwerth ( over 800 employees in Berlin employed ). After nationalization in 1972 was from Zeuke the VEB Berliner TT Railways ( BTTB ). After the Berlin Wall in 1989 BTTB was taken over by forced expropriated owner Zeuke and then in bankruptcy in 1993 by the Saxon company Tillig and still is the largest full-line in size.

Since the turn of the market shares of the same in West and East to slow, which in the case of TT on the one hand a massive decline in market share from 34.2 to 25.5 % in the East and on the other hand an increase of 2.8 to 6.7% in West alone means between 2004 and 2006. Overall, the proportion of 7.3 % ( instead of 7.2 ) remains practically constant. At the same time the company name Tillig opening up the market in the Czech Republic, held by the annual club meeting both as an event in Germany and in the Czech Republic. In addition, there are also in other countries of the former CMEA manufacturer (eg Hungary: Deak, Russia: TT- Model Russia) for the nominal size TT, thus contributing to further dissemination.

With the appearance of a newly designed clutch - which was presented at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2006 for the first time - could Tillig based on the NEM, replacing the previous, less prototypical case pintle hook from the 1980s through a contemporary and reliable construction.

In the current development of the digital technology in the nominal size TT has arrived. The decoder of industrial providers are usually equipped with NEM 651. Lately come to new designs with the new interface PluX (12 ), which allows a further detailing of the functions.
