TT48

The grave TT48 ( Theban Tomb 48 engl. = Theban grave No. 48) is located in the necropolis of el- Chocha in Western Thebes in Egypt. It dates from the 18th dynasty and was Amenemhat Surer, the upper domain superintendent under Amenhotep III. The remaining unfinished grave one with a length of 63 meters to the largest private tombs that time.

Grave

The grave of Amenemhet - Surer is located east of grave No. 178 and consists of four consecutive columns halls: a portico, a longitudinal hall, an inner hall and a fourth unfinished sanctuary. The portico with 2 × 10 fluted columns forms the southern entrance of the tomb. The south wall shows the grave Lord in worship of the gods Geb, Nut, Isis and Osiris. In another scene, victim support appear before Amenemhet - Surer and his mother Mut- tuj. The left and right narrow side show Amenhotep III. while celebrating a harvest festival, sacrificing and the worship of the gods. On the north wall are more scenes with Amenhotep III. shown. Amenemhet - Surer appears with fan beams and gifts darbringenden servants of the king, sitting in a stand. Other scenes show the king the slaying of enemies or statues of the King and Queen Tiy at the dedication.

A longitudinal hall with attached with two rows of ten papyrus columns on the transverse hall. Unique is the subsequently inserted hall of 4 × 6 tent pole columns, which otherwise occurs only in Achmenu.

Amenemhet - Surer seems still alive Amenhotep III. to have fallen out of favor since his grave was victim of destruction ( name redemption).
