Tubal

Tubal ( תובל or תבל, Θοβελ / Θωδελ ) is a son of Japheth (Gen. 10.2 EU), his brothers are Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Meshech, and Tiras.

People

The Tubal derived from, the same people (Gen 10.3 EU, Isa 66:19 and Ezek 27,14 EU EU ) lived north of Israel. According to Ezekiel ( Ez 27,13 EU) Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and were traders for Tyre, " for human souls and bronze equipment they gave your trade goods". Tubal is often mentioned along with Meshech ( Ez 32,26 EU). After the fall of Egypt, Assyria, and Elam, the prophet sees " ... Meshech - Tubal, and all his pomp, Edom, the princes of the north all " ( Ez 32,30 EU) in hell. In the prophecy against Sidon, the Prophet is asked about the " prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal " prophesy ( Ez 38,2 ). In the prophecy against Gog (Ezek 39.1 EU) this prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal is called, he and his army come to an end in Hamon Gog, and their bows are used as firewood. Isaiah mentions (Isaiah 66:19 EU) those " who draw the bow ", usually interpreted as Meshech, Tubal, and Javan.

In 1897 Jastrow wants to equate the tabal the Inscriptions of Khorsabad and the annals of Sargon with the biblical Tubal. Most authors use Tubal and the Late Hittite / Luwian Kingdom tabal in eastern Turkey without comment the same.

Medieval Spaniards introduced their origin back to Tubal. The Iberians in Georgia claimed Tubal as their ancestors.
