Tube cleaning (locomotive)

A Rohrblasgerüst ( Auswaschgerüst ) is a device in a railway depot, which is used to blow the boiler tubes of a steam locomotive. The OLS using Auswaschlanze had to be made once a week for steam locomotives to prevent excessive contamination of the boiler tubes. Deposits in heating and smoke tubes not only reduce the heat from the hot flue gases to the water in the boiler, they also promote the corrosion of the pipes.
