Tube Lines

Tube Lines Ltd, based in London, is a subsidiary of Transport for London ( TfL), which is responsible for maintenance, replacement and upgrading of technical infrastructure on three lines of the London Underground. This includes rails, trains, signals, supply lines and stations.

Background

Since January 2003, London Underground in the form of a Public Private Partnership ( PPP) partially privatized. The maintenance of infrastructure should be carried out by private companies, while the power and the material still remained in the possession of Transport for London and was operated by the well. Following a tender has Tube Lines, a subsidiary of Amey ( Ferrovial ), Bechtel and Jarvis (but got out in 2005 ), received a contract for a period of 30 years for the maintenance of the Jubilee Line, Northern Lineund Piccadilly Line. The other lines were awarded to Metronet.

After Metronet in 2007 became insolvent and also at Tube Lines encountered strong cost increases, the PPP model has been adopted to handle. 2010 has therefore acquired the shares of Bechtel and Amey Transport for London, and is thus again the entire maintenance again with TfL.
