Tubeless tyre
Tubeless wheels are mainly used in the sport of mountain biking. In this system, the tire and rim form a tight air chamber, a conventional bicycle inner tube is no longer needed. Tubeless tires could not prevail on a bicycle.
- Due to the lack of a hose creates a weight advantage
- An air loss due to the so-called hose punches Snake bites is no longer possible
- The air pressure of the tire can be selected to be lower than in a tube system, which increases ride comfort and traction on soft surfaces (such as sand and mud )
- A hole can easily be corrected through the use of conventional patch
- By lower air pressure, the shell does not prevent a direct pass-through to the rim. Here, the rim flange may be damaged.
- Arise broken spokes in system wheels higher cost than a conventional wheel with tube
- A tubeless system requires special wheels and tires
- Mounting the tire requires some experience and extreme care
- Inflate the flat tires is often only with fast inflowing air volume with an air compressor possible
