Tubercle (anatomy)

A tubercle is in medicine and anatomy a small bump or a nodular swelling on the body surface. These may be present as a normal surface structure, such as nodular structures on the body surface of some whales, or signs of inflammation or other pathological changes in the surface occur. As anatomical features of teeth, bone, or other structures are referred to as tubercles " tubercle ". In pathology nodular tissue changes, called granulomas, also called tubercles, about the findings of tuberculosis.
