Tucson Amateur Packet Radio

The Tucson Amateur Packet Radio Corporation ( TAPR ) is an international amateur radio organization. The name is based on the fact that the group has been founded in 1981 in Tucson, Arizona.

Initially the focus was on the development of a Terminal Node Controller (TNC ) to make packet radio amateur radio available. So based firmware and hardware of many TNCs that were built and used around the world, on developments in the TAPR.

Today, other developments are in the foreground. Thus, the TAPR developed the HPSDR (High Performance Software Defined Radio ). Together with the American Amateur Radio Association ARRL organized the annual TAPR Digital Communications Conference.
