Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays with Morrie is the title of a book by Mitch Albom in 1997; the German translation by Angelika Bardeleben appeared in 1998. The book was used as a template for the eponymous 1999 film starring Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria.

The book is based on the true story of suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis sociology professor Morrie Schwartz and his relationship with his student Mitch Albom. Both the book and the film show the lessons of life, Albom learns from his dying professor.

Action

Mitch Albom is a successful sports journalist and has left his college years far behind, as he sees a television interview his former sociology professor Morrie Schwartz and mentor. He learns here is that Morrie is suffering from the deadly disease ALS. When he realizes that his old friend has not long to live, he decides to visit him. He travels every Tuesday from Detroit to Newton, to Schwartz dies. At every meeting he learns Schwartz's simple lessons for a happy life, which he documented for the book.
