Tui T. Sutherland

Tui Sutherland ( born July 31, 1978 in Caracas, Venezuela ) is a writer. She is a member of the writing staff Erin Hunter. As an author she also used the name Tui T. Sutherland and the pseudonyms Heather Williams and Tamara Summers. She writes short stories, picture books, animal stories and novels for children and young people. Especially their avatar trilogy became known.

Tui Sutherland was named by her parents to the New Zealand bird Tui. She grew up in Paraguay, Florida and the Dominican Republic and later moved with her parents to New Jersey. There she attended high school and worked at a theater, where she also took on small roles. At Williams College, she earned a bachelor's degree (BA). After that, she worked for several years in New York as an editor in a children's book publisher.

In June 2009 she was champion in the U.S. quiz show Jeopardy in two days.

Tui Sutherland is married and lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
