History

TUI AG announced on 19 March 2007 in a merger of its tourism division with the British First Choice Holidays. The merger to form TUI Travel plc was approved on 29 June 2007 by the EU Commission. The shareholders of First Choice Holidays have approved the merger on 25 July 2007. The new TUI Travel plc shares were first traded on 3 September 2007 on the London Stock Exchange. TUI Travel plc is fully included in the consolidated financial statements of TUI AG.

The new TUI Travel will be led by First Choice boss Peter Long as Chief Executive Officer ( CEO). TUI CEO Michael Frenzel to be Chairman or Chairman of the Board.

TUI Airlines airlines

The airlines are pooled in TUI Airlines. These include not only TUIfly in Germany, especially the British Thomson Airways ( merger of First Choice Airways and Thomsonfly ) and other four smaller airlines. TUI Airlines includes more than 150 aircraft.

Structural data

The new TUI Travel plc is active in 20 countries, has over 27 million customers and a turnover of around 18.1 billion euros, of which about 14.1 billion euros of TUI AG and about 4 billion euros of First Choice Holidays. The travel group has approximately 47,000 employees ( 33,000 TUI AG 14,000 FCH ). He has over 3,500 travel agencies and 101 tour operator brands. TUI Travel has seven airlines with over 150 aircraft ( TUIfly, TUI Airlines and First Choice Airways ). In fiscal year 2010/2011 TUI Travel had made a profit of 471 million pounds.
