TUIfly Nordic, formerly Britannia Airways AB, is a Swedish charter airline based in Stockholm.

History

The TUIfly Nordic emerged from the Swedish airline founded in 1985 Transwede. In early 1996, the charter sector of Transwede as an independent company ( Transwede Leisure, AB) was spun off and sold to the Swedish tour operator Fritidsresor, who renamed the airline in October 1996 in Blue Scandinavia.

In December 1997 Fritidsresor by the British Thomson Travel Group was acquired, which was also the owner of the Britannia Airways. Thomson Travel integrated the Blue Scandinavia under the name Britannia Airways AB in the Group ( the delineation of the eponymous British parent company often called Britannia Britannia Nordic Sweden or referred to ). In 2000, the Thomson group of Preussag, now TUI was acquired.

As of mid- 2005, all TUI airlines were given new names with the uniform extension " fly". As part of this marketing campaign is called the Britannia Airways AB in November 2005 and then Thomsonfly in May 2006 TUIfly Nordic has to offer.

Fleet

As of March 2012, the fleet of TUIfly Nordic consists of eight aircraft:

  • 6 Boeing 737-800
  • 2 Boeing 767 -300ER

Some of the planes with logos of Fritidsresor.se and StarTour.no are pasted, indicating the importance of these two tour operators as partners of TUIfly Nordic.
