Tula, Sardinia

Tula is a town in the province of Sassari in Sardinia with 1587 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

It is located on Logudoro, adjacent to nearby Anglona and Gallura region. The river Coghinas flows through the area and influenced the history of the village for centuries. The village is built on the slope "Su Sassu " and has before him the Chilivani level. The neighboring municipalities are Erula, Oschiri, Ozieri and Tempio Pausania.

History

The area was settled in the time of Nuraghe. Nearby you can visit the Nuraghe Occultu Mazzone and Mannu.

Near the Santuario di Castro traces were found of a Roman settlement, which should come from the period around the 700 AD. The first official data of Tula are found about 1678, where they have built around the church of S. Coro's the first settlements, and is named TULA officially announced.

The old part of the village is found at the top of the village, where many narrow streets characterize the image of the village. Most of the houses were built of stone, which were found in the region. In different houses nor the famous Sardinian sheep's milk cheese was produced until the early fifties.
