Tulamben

Tulamben is a small village in the northeast of the Indonesian island of Bali.

Location and population

The village is located about 3 hours drive from the island's capital Denpasar. The development of tourism infrastructure is still in a very early stage. Even though there are numerous hotels of different categories, but there is virtually no village center as all the buildings along the main road to be built. In Tulamben there in the meantime, some small shops, restaurants and numerous diving schools.

The beach consists mostly of black Lavakies and usually falls relatively flat from.

Diving schools and area

The village is primarily known due to its diving area. There are dive centers all known diving organizations. The diving schools and diving tourism has contributed in recent years significantly to the economic development of Tulamben and also contributed a number of projects to a social improvement. Thus, the numerous diving schools organize for example, a garbage collection, set to dumpsters and pay residents for waste disposal. Due to the charges at the dive sites, especially a carrying charge for the diving equipment from the base to start the dive tourism forms in the meantime, the main source of income for the population.

The dive sites in and around Tulamben are characterized by a great diversity of soft and hard corals. The fish stocks are still very stable. Primarily, the diving area is but as a macro paradise. With the 1942 and 1963 stranded sunken USAT Liberty is also found one of the most famous wrecks of Indonesia in close to the beach.
