Tulcea County

Tulcea [ tult ͜ ʃe̯a ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the Dobrogea region with the county town of Tulcea. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are TL.

The Tulcea County is bordered on the north by the Ukraine in the east to the Black Sea, to the south by the district of Constanta, on the west by the county Brăila and to the northwest by the district of Galaţi.

Demography

In 2002, the Tulcea County 256 492 inhabitants, thus a population density of 30 inhabitants per km ². Of these, 230 843 Romanians, 16,350 Lipovans, 3,334 Turks, 2,272 Roma, 1,680 Greeks, 179 and 135 Hungarians Tatars.

Geography

The Tulcea county has a total area of ​​8499 km ², equivalent to 3.56 % of the area of Romania. Located in the south-east of Romania, the circle, the Danube Delta and the northern half of the Dobruja plateau comprises ( Podişul Dobrogei ). It is located between the Balta Brailei in the west and the Black Sea in the east.
