Tulga

Tulga was December 20, 639 to April 17, 642 king of the Visigoths.

Tulga was the son and successor of Chintila, at his death, 639 but still a minor. He was the first Visigoth king, who was elevated to his father's lifetime not by a mere decision of the ruler, but by an act of choice as co-regent. Thus, the will of the ruler was enforced, but at the same time did the elective principle formally satisfy.

Tulga 642 was overthrown by a rebellion of nobles. The kingship took Chindaswinth. Tulga was put in a monastery as a monk and thus made incapable of governing; His fate is unknown. This failed Chintilas attempt to establish a dynasty.
