The multi-colored tulip ( Tulipa polychroma ) is a species of the genus of tulips ( Tulipa) in the lily family ( Liliaceae ). It is possible that with her only a subspecies of Tulipa biflora.

Features

The multi-colored tulip is a perennial bulbous plant, reaches the heights of growth 6-17 centimeters. The way it is probably foothills. There are 2 ( to 4) leaves present. The bud is nodding. The bloom have a length of up to 4.5 inches.

Flowering is in March, some in April.

Occurrence

The multi-colored tulip occurs in clayey and stony Artemisia semi-desert in the eastern Caucasus, in Transcaucasia, in northern Iran and northern Afghanistan.

Use

The multi-colored tulip is rarely used as an ornamental plant. It is in culture at least since 1894.
