Tullgarn Palace

The Tullgarn Palace is a royal palace in Sweden and is located in the municipality of Södertälje in the vicinity of the place Trosa.

The original castle was built at the end of the 16th century under Count Karl Sture. In the middle of the 17th century consisted of a large main building with three floors and two round and a square tower. On the side of the main building were two wings, at the turn followed by an additional building, so that was a yard.

The first known owner today was the knight, and Imperial Council Tord Bonde Röriksson. Its present appearance the castle in a comprehensive restoration 1719-1727 by order of Count Magnus Julius De la Gardie. The architect was Joseph Gabriel destain. The castle now consists of a 43 meter long and 15 meter wide building with two 8 -meter-wide wings that form an open courtyard to the water of a Baltic Sea bay. Today the castle open to the public and maintained by the state administration building. There are several options for guided tours, as well as a gift shop and an orangery.
