Tumeltsham

Tumeltsham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 1538 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

Tumeltsham is located on 438 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 3.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 4 km away. The total area is 9.1 km ². 8.7% of the area is forested and 73.9 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Tumeltsham was first mentioned in 1122 as the seat of the gender of Tumuoltesheimer documented. The Tumuoltesheimer were under the county Formbach. Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally returned to Austria above the Enns. 1891, the municipality of Tumeltsham was increased by the village Eschlried. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the village belonged to the Upper Danube. In 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Population Development

In 1991, the municipality had 1145 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1352 inhabitants.

Culture and sights

The Roman Catholic, Saint Vitus parish church of Tumeltsham is a baroque building from the 18th century. To their feature characters from the School of Schwanthalerstraße.
