Tunapuna in Trinidad

Tunapuna is a town in Trinidad and Tobago. It is the capital of the Tunapuna - Piarco region.

Location

Tunapuna is located in the northern part of the island of Trinidad, in the so-called East -West Corridor, the south east of the Northern Range runs from the west metropolitan area of ​​the capital city Port of Spain. History

The name " Tunapuna " is Indian in origin and means " the river ". During the British colonial period, large parts of today's urban area plantations owned by the families Auzonville and Bootsman. After the decay of the cocoa and coffee boom the country has been sold gradually as a settled area; a part of the settlement administration was donated and now forms the 12 -acre park Auzonville. 1898 Tunapuna received city rights. 1907 Corps of the Salvation Army was founded.
