Tuning wrench

The tuning hammer is an L- shaped tool, which allows to tune the strings of a grand piano or an upright piano. Models for harpsichords and other historical keyboard instruments are slightly smaller. The T- shaped design of the tool is called tuning wire and is used mainly for historical keyboard instruments, zithers and harps.

The tuning hammer or tuning wire is placed on the tuning pegs of string to be tuned to shoot this. The hole of the tool head has to fit the particular form of the tuning peg; the choice of square hole, star hole and flat hole in different sizes. Some professional tuning hammer models have interchangeable inserts ( " nuts ", colloquially "nuts" ) and retractable handles.
