Tuoshan

The Tuoshan Grottoes (Chinese驼 山 石窟/驼 山 石窟, Pinyin Tuoshan Shiku, English Tuoshan Grottoes ) is a Buddhist cave temple from the time of the Northern Zhou ( 577-581 ) to Tang Dynasty ( 613-907 ). It is located on the territory of the prefecture-level city of Qingzhou青 州市in Shandong Province, China in the mountains Tuoshan ( " camel mountain").

In the five main caves 638 stone sculptures have been preserved with many Buddha images. The largest statue of the seated Buddha is about 7 m high.

Since 1988, the Tuoshan caves are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 3-46 ).
