Turlock is an American city in Stanislaus County in the U.S. state of California with about 70,000 inhabitants (2007 ).
History
Turlock was founded in 1871 by John William Mitchell, a cereal farmer, as the Central Pacific Railroad was built. It received its name after each winter emerging in the West of Ireland karst lakes, turloughs.
Education
The city is the seat of California State University, Stanislaus.
In the rhythm of two years a student exchange of Turlock High School is organized with the vocational schools of the Werra -Meißner -Kreis in Witzenhausen.
