Turnerschaft

A student or academic Turnerschaft is a special category of student associations, which have emerged during the 19th century from the older academic gymnastics clubs and have become like these especially the care of sport ( " gymnastics" as former generic term for sport in general ) prescribed.

In contrast to the Academic gymnastics clubs the student Turner machinations in the majority are compulsorily striking colors and all supporting. A few Turner machinations are only optional percussion since the 1970s, ie they provide their members with the scale -free.

Umbrella organization of academic Turner machinations was before the Second World War, the representative - Convent (VC ). 1950 included the former VC connections with the governing body of academic Landsmannschaften for Coburg Convent (CC ) together. He still belongs to the majority of academic Turner properties. Some optional beating Turner machinations have in the 1970s separated from the CC and joined the Marburg Convention (MK ). A third group belongs to neither of the two associations.

The Academic Turner Societies of Switzerland are united in the Swiss Academic Turnerschaft ( SAT). After the suspension of the two welschen Turner properties ( Rhodania Geneva and Lausanne Jurassia ) the SAT consists only of the Academic Turnerschaft Alemannia Basel, the Academic Turnerschaft Rhenaniastraße Bern and the Academic Turnerschaft Utonia Zurich.

Like other fraternities have also Turner machinations often opulent houses, such as the Wolfsburg Turnerschaft in CC Schaumburgia to Marburg.
