Túró Rudi

Túró Rudi, a container filled with a curd preparation chocolate bars, is a famous specialty in Hungary.

" Túró " is in Hungarian for Quark or plugs. Not too sweet from the taste, there is the Túró Rudi in two sizes with either a coating of dark chocolate (classic ) or milk chocolate. In addition to the natural filling, there are other versions with the addition of fruit jam. " Rudi " is in Hungarian, as well as in German, a diminutive of the male given name Rudolf, but also a reference to the word Rud, which can be translated here with chopsticks, with this word thus comes to the shape of the product, at " Túró " rather its contents.

The Túró Rudi came under the name "Eskimo" as originally frozen food from a mixture of cottage cheese, fat and butter from the Soviet Union. In Hungary, the consistency was adjusted so that the bolt could be stored easily cooled. Today's appearance and taste of today's date from the 1960s. In retail, the Túró Rudi is offered in a package with characteristic points. The dots represent the name of the Hungarian producer " Pöttyös " (Hungarian: dotted).

" Rudi " was presented in 2005 at Anuga ( General Food and Beverage Exhibition ), where he was awarded the " Innovation Award at Anuga button 05". The name Túró Rudi is protected within the EU, a lawsuit from the Hungarian side is therefore not excluded. The Austrian Rudi taste different than the Hungarian, the cream cheese filling is sweet and also available in other flavors (coconut and strawberry).
