Tuscola County, Michigan

Tuscola County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Caro.

Geography

The County is located in the east of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, bounded on the northwest by a tributary of Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​2367 square kilometers, of which 263 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Huron County, Sanilac County, Lapeer County, Genesee County, Saginaw County and Bay County.

History

Tuscola County was formed in 1840 from parts of Sanilac County. It was named by Henry Schoolcraft for a word from the Indian language.
