Tuts Washington

Tuts Washington ( born January 24, 1907 in New Orleans, Louisiana; † August 5, 1984 ibid ), actually Isidore Washington, also known as Papa Yellow, was an American blues pianist. He influenced many subsequent blues greats as Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint and Fats Domino.

Aged 10, he taught himself to play the piano itself. His model was Joseph Louis "Red" Cayou. He was a child prodigy, could process which belonged tunes directly. As a teenager, he played with the trendy Dixieland bands in his hometown.

Best known Washington was with his partner Smiley Lewis (guitar and vocals), with whom he appeared in the late 1940s and took pictures together. Her success pieces include tea -Nah -Nah, The Bells Are Ringing and Dirty People.

1950 Washington moved to St. Louis, where he played in the " Tab Smith Orchestra". End of the decade he returned to New Orleans and went to the " Clyde Kerr Orchestra". His style was the time of commercial and pop- oriented. Nevertheless, he took until 1983 at the age of 76 years, his first solo album New Orleans Piano Professor on.

Only a year later died Tuts Washington during a performance at the World's Fair in New Orleans.
