Tuukka Mäntylä

Tuukka Mäntylä (born 25 May 1981 in Tampere ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2013 in Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Tuukka Mäntylä began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Tappara Tampere, for the first team he held until 2003, was active from 1999 in the SM- liiga, the top Finnish league. After he had become vice-champion with Tappara for the seasons 2000/ 01 and 2001/ 02, he won the third attempt in the 2002/03 season with his team the Finnish championship. From 2003 to 2005 the defender played for Luleå HF in the Swedish Elitserien, before he returned for two more years to Tappara Tampere. From 2007 to 2009 he was again in the Swedish Elitserien on the ice, but this time for the Frölunda HC.

For the season 2009/10 Mäntylä closed again at his old club Tappara Tampere, where he stayed for two seasons before he was hired in October 2011 by Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. After the season he returned to Tappara, where he was named team captain. In April 2013 he was taken from Metallurg Novokuznetsk of the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Internationally

For Finland Mäntylä took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1998, the U18 Junior World Championship in 1999 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 in part. In the U18 European Championship in 1998 and the U20 World Cup 2001, he won the silver at the 1999 U18 World Cup, even the gold medal with his team. At the 2001 U20 World Cup, he was also elected to the All-Star team in the tournament and had the best plus / minus balance of all players.

In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships 2004, 2006 and 2007 and in the years 2003 to 2009, the Euro Hockey Tour. At the 2006 World Championships he won the bronze, at the 2007 World Championships silver medal with Finland.
