Tuulos

Tuulos [ tu ː lɔs ] ( swedish Tulois ) is a former municipality in the southern Finland Tavastia Proper region. At the beginning of 2009, it was amalgamated with the municipalities Hauho, Kalvola, Lammi and Renko in the city of Hämeenlinna.

Tuulos located 27 km north-east of the center of Hämeenlinna. Besides the eponymous community center belonging to the municipality Tuulos the villages Juttila, Lakkola, Pohjoinen, Sairiala, Sydänmaa, Syrjäntaka, Teuro and Toivaala. The municipality covered an area of 171.30 km ² (of which 13.44 km ² inland waters). The population was 1,634 last.

The Church of St. Bridget Tuulos is a sacred medieval stone church from the early 16th century. In Finnish Civil War a battle between Red Guards and German troops took place in 1918 Tuulos, remember the several monuments.
