Tuvuca

Tuvuca [ tuβuða ], also Tuvutha, [Note 1] is an island of volcanic origin in the north of the Lau archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. Politically, it is part of the Eastern Division of the island nation Fiji.

Geography

Tuvuca is located approximately 50 km north of Lakeba, the main island of the archipelago, 35 km south-west of Mago, 35 km northeast of Nayau and 45 km east of Cicia. Neighboring islands are much smaller islands Vekai, 9 km to the north, and Yaroua, 15 km to the southeast. Tuvuca has a length of 5.7 km, a width of up to 3.4 km and has an area of ​​about 12 km ². The island is completely surrounded by a coral reef with a narrow lagoon and reached the mesa -like interior a height of 244 meters above the sea. The island is inhabited, the only settlement Tuvuca ( Tuvutha ) is located on the southwest coast.
