Tux, Tyrol

Tux is a municipality with 1914 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) and the Schwaz district court in the district of Zell am Ziller, in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

Geography

Tux is in the Tux Alps, a subgroup of the Zillertal Alps. The community occupies the rear and most of the Tux Valley, a side valley of the Ziller Valley branches off near Mayrhofen southwest. The municipal area extends up to 3476 m high glacier Olperer and up to 2338 m high Tux yoke, a heavily used already in the early days of transition between the Zillertal and the Wipptal. Other striking elevations in the municipality are the 3288 m high peak Frozen Wall and the 3231 m high High riffler. The highest farms are located on 1630 m.

Districts

Tux consists of the five districts Vorderlanersbach Lanersbach, Jun's, Madseit and Hintertux.

Vorderlanersbach

History

Tourism
