Tuyên Quang

Tuyen Quang ( Vietnamese: Tuyen Quang ) is a city in Vietnam and the capital of the province of Tuyen Quang.

Geography

Tuyen Quang is located about 110 kilometers northwest of Hanoi and about 120 kilometers south of China. It is also from the three districts Phan Thiet, Tân Quang and Minh Xuan, through which the beautiful river flows Lô.

The population size of the city Tuyen Quang was approximately 56,000 inhabitants in 2006.

History

The French Foreign Legion defended a position in Tuyen Quang four months against 12,000 Abgehörige of Yunnan and Black Flag Army during the French - Chinese War ( August 1884 to April 1885 ). The Siege of Tuyen Quang is still considered one of the most important acts of the Foreign Legion, and is therefore in the first verse of Le Boudin, the marching song of the Foreign Legion, thought.

Tuyen Quang served in Indochina as a garrison, but this was taken during the First Indochina War by the Viet Minh.

A well-known Vietnamese proverb says Chè Thái, Gai Tuyen, which means as much as Grab some tea from Thái ( Nguyen ) and women from Tuyen ( Quang ).
