Tužina

Tuzina ( German Schmiedshau, Schmiedsheu or Schmitz hot, Hungarian Kovácspalota - to 1907 Tuzsina ) is a municipality in the west - central Slovakia with 1214 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region for Okres Prievidza, part of Trenčín heard.

Geography

The municipality is located in the upper part of the basin Hornonitrianska kotlina at the transition into the mountains Strážovské hills. Through the town of Bach Tuzina that belongs to the Nitra river system flows. The center is located at an altitude of 360 m nm and is 12 kilometers from Prievidza away.

Neighboring municipalities are Čičmany in the north, Kľačno in the northeast, Nitrianske Pravno in the south and Chvojnica in the West, in addition limits the municipality to the municipality of Bela Valaská.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1393 as Villa Fabri writing. At that time the judge Hermann Heckel received a permit by the stream Tuzina to establish a second settlement that could soon be merged with the original village. From the beginning, the history is closely connected with the manor of Castle Bojnice. Originally, mining, particularly gold mining the main occupation in the area, with miners from the Hungarian mining towns as well as German-speaking countries were convened for this purpose. After the fall of the 16th century was mined in 1614 almost no gold, then agriculture and crafts were the main sources of income.

1787 were counted 123 houses and 1,624 inhabitants in 1828 and 285 houses and 1,922 inhabitants, in the first half of the 20th century there were even 3,000 inhabitants. After the Second World War, the majority of the German population was expelled; further waves of emigration in the 1970s and 1980s reduced the population to about 1,220 number.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Neutra place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

According to the 2011 census lived in Tuzina 1,219 inhabitants, of whom 1,143 Slovaks, 45 German, five Czechs, Magyars, 2, 1 pole and 1 Russine. 22 inhabitants did not know. 849 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church 31 inhabitants, 3 neighbors to the Jehovah's Witnesses and other. 223 inhabitants were non-denominational and 106 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
