TV Tome

TV Tome ( tvtome.com ) was a large, English-language website with a database of television series and its participants. The database contained complete episode guide to over 2500 series, 3500 series, these more were under construction, and filmographies for more than 250,000 actors and other crew members.

The site describes itself as follows: TV Tome is an attempt to create the greatest TV episode guide and actor ever. (English, TV Tome is to create the largest / best TV episodes and actresses all-time leader of the experiment. )

2003/2004 was an offshoot of the portal called Movie Tome that is similar to the IMDb deals with movies.

April 22, 2005 TV Tome announced the acquisition of the site by the CNET Network. After connection of a preliminary version on June 1, the URL TVTome.com was diverted from June 13, 2005 permanently to the new, CNET 's own domain TV.com. The change of website operator called in regular users of TV Tome forth some criticism. In addition to the significantly more commercial orientation of the new page, numerous information was lost during the transition: the data for Crew on TV.com contain only the names of director and writer; the sections on trivia, the cultural references and DVD releases of the individual series were cut or were completely lost.

Alternatives

Since the acquisition of CNET, there have been criticisms of the new page TV.com and thus alternatives have been launched. Some of these are World episode, The TV IV, TV Friends, The Media Database and TVRage.
