Tvärbanan

Tvärbanan ( German Cross railway ) is a tram in Stockholm, which is operated on behalf of Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL). The route is largely on its own roadbed and only in Gröndal and Sundbyberg the track with grooved rails runs stocked up in the streets. This is the reason why the Tvärbana legal relations has, while in Swedish railways otherwise left-hand traffic is common. The cars are classified Bombardier Flexity Swift and as the class A32. Each car has capacity for 221 passengers and is with other cars of the same type dome and a lot of times controllable. Because of the need to be able to sail equally turnouts with remote panel sizes and tram typical grooved rails, the cars run on Kompromissradreifen with back surface distance to the mainline standard above the rail level.

With the construction of the line began in 1996. Since 2000, the Tvärbana runs between Gullmarsplan and Liljeholmen, then later were added the extensions of Liljeholmen by Alvik, 2002 by Gullmarsplan by Sickla udder and 2013 from Alvik to Solna centrum. The Tvärbana offers many connections to other railways: in Alvik to Nockebybana and the green lines of the Tunnelbana (U -Bahn ), in Liljeholmen to the red lines of the Tunnelbana in Solna centrum and centrum Sundbybergs to the blue lines of Tunnelbana in Årstaberg and Sundbybergs centrum for Pendeltåg and globes and Gullmarsplan again to the green lines of the Tunnelbana.

In Liljeholmen is a track connection to the mainline system, which is used for vehicle delivery, but especially for the transport of goods to a cement factory at Liljeholmshamnen. Another track is the link with Tunnelbana to transfer new and decommissioned subway cars on their own wheels can continuously.

Extensions under construction or planned

Begun in 2009, the route from Alvik to Solna was completed in May 2012 for the most part. The first test drive to Solna centrum was held on June 4, 2012. The opening of the section Alvik - Solna centrum took place on 28 October 2013. Due to the complex crossing structures with the Frösundaleden 's station with the opening of the last piece to Solna not expected until 2014.

It is scheduled to terminate in the summer of 2014, the entire Tvärbana to install a new signal system and to broaden some platforms. Until then, passengers have to switch to Alvik the train.

The realization of the so-called Kista branch is planned for 2014-2018. This branches off north of Norra Ulvsunda from Solna branch and leads past the Bromma Airport and a possibly newly built Pendelzugstation Solvalla after Rissne, Kista centrum and continue to Pendelzugstation Helenelund.

To the east, the extension to Sickla station was decided to Saltsjöbanan, which will be operational in 2016.
