Tweed (cloth)

Tweed is a fabric that is not - as is often claimed - is named after the River Tweed in Scotland, but tweel after the Scottish word that is synonymous with English twill, and a weave (also referred to in the German " twill " or twill weave ). Originally, the term hand-woven, twill mostly cohesive tissue were labeled with scattered knobs from coarse wool yarn. The fabric is used for example with checkered patterns as the material for kilts use. In addition, it is now used as a material for costumes, coats, suits and hats.
