Tweed Heads, New South Wales

Tweed Heads is the northernmost city in the Australian state of New South Wales and is located about 100 km south of Brisbane. It forms the southern end of the Gold Coast of Queensland and is joined at the state line with Coolangatta.

The city takes its name from Tweed Heads Tweed River, at the mouth of it lies.

Tweed Heads was officially founded in 1886 and has about 52,000 inhabitants. At the end of the 19th century the place was not only a center of the timber industry, he and the coastal region was a popular holiday destination.
