Twin Falls (Australia)

The Twin Falls (also called Gungkurdul ) are located in the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory, Australia. They are located near the eastern boundary of the park, about 80 km south of Jabiru. The falls are formed by a left tributary of Jim Jim Creek, which in turn flows into the South Alligator River. They are accessible via a narrow road (about 60 km from the Kakadu Highway from ). The path may be used only with four-wheel vehicles and leads past the Jim Jim Falls.

From Jim Jim Camping Ground from there about 12 km to the parking at the Twin Falls. Must be crossed at the outset of the Jim Jim Creek with the vehicle. From the parking area a trail leads well into the gorge. The rear part of the canyon can not be crossed on foot. Since 2003, the swimming in the gorge is no longer permitted because swim in the rainy season regular saltwater crocodiles to the stilling basin of the waterfalls. The visitors are now brought a small motorboat to the waterfalls.

The gorge and the waterfalls are among the most beautiful places of Kakadu National Park. You can only be visited in the dry season, in which case they naturally lead significantly less water. At the foot of the falls is a white sand beach and a narrow path leads up to the top of Twin Falls.
