Twin Falls County, Idaho

Twin Falls County is a county located in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Twin Falls.

Geography

The County is located in southern Idaho, bordering Nevada and has an area of 4995 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Gooding County, Jerome County, Cassia County, Owyhee County and Elmore County. The south of the county is dominated by the Basin and Range region. This moves on to a spur of the Owyhee Plateau joins. The north of the county lies in the plane of the Snake River Plain.

History

Twin Falls County was formed on February 21, 1907 from parts of Cassia County. It was named after the waterfalls of the Snake River.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 64 284 people in Twin Falls County. Of these, 1,420 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants living in 23 853 households and 16 959 families. The population density was 13 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.5 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.7 percent Native American, 0.8 percent Asian, 0.1 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 3.8 percent from other races groups; 2.0 percent are descended from two or more races. 9.4 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 23 853 households out of which 34.7 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.0 percent were married couples living together. 9.2 percent were single mothers and 28.9 percent were non-families. 23.6 percent of all households and 10.4 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.13.

27.9 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 10.4 percent 18-24 Years, 26.0 percent between 25 and 44, 21.5 percent between 45 and 64 years. 14.3 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over 93.7 males.

The median household income was $ 34,506, and the median income for a family $ 39,886. Males have a median income of $ 30,058, women $ 20,825. The per capita income was $ 16,678. 9.1 percent of families and 12.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
