Two for the Road (film)

Two for the Road is a film by Stanley Donen from 1967, which recounted the twelve year relationship of an architect and his wife. Despite the lack of success at the box office he is especially true because of its non - linear narrative as an influential film of the 1960s.

The film is about the annual holiday trips the couple Wallace of England to the French Mediterranean coast. In the first trip to Joanna and Mark get to know, later they go along with another couple and their daughter, years later with Mark's client, then alone again, and finally with their daughter - every time on the same route. Here, the narrative sequence of the travel is not ordered chronologically, but is tied to local and thematic contexts.

The script screenwriter Frederic Raphael was honored with an Oscar nomination.

Criticism

  • Lexicon of international film: A lightweight comedy with a serious background, when the problems are played excellently and mounted, but not always entirely believable about playing in a superficial manner.
