Company History

Tyco was founded in 1960 by Arthur J. Rosenburg.

In 1992, Dennis Kozlowski, CEO of Tyco, who sat through an aggressive acquisition strategy over 1,000 companies between 1991 and 2001. The acquisitions include companies like ADT Security, Curad and business scope of Siemens, Raytheon and AT & T.

With the acquisition of ADT Security 1997 Tyco moved its headquarters to Pembroke, Bermuda. Although this change of corporate headquarters was officially presented as part of the merger (ADT was already settled in Bermuda ), the change was seen as a quasi- legal step in a tax haven in the public debate. The tax benefit was touted to shareholders and investors in the publications.

Shortly before a planned stock split in 1999 there were rumors of accounting irregularities. The rumors were denied emphatically by the management of Tyco, who accused the sources of price manipulation in personal interest. Partly in response, fought some shareholders at the AGM for a change of corporate form into a Delaware AG, but this request was rejected by the Board.

During this time, Tyco split his deep sea cable laying department from which they had acquired by AT & T and managed as Tyco Submarine Systems, and brought them expected to go public.

During the 1990s, Tyco's income seemed to continuously increase, which is why many investors confer upon it the status of a Blue Chip. In retrospect, this had to be viewed as an illusion, which was caused by the accounting treatment of acquisitions. Unlike companies such as Enron, MCI Worldcom and HealthSouth, against the 2001 and 2002 allegations of fraud and other charges were levied, Tyco never got into a liquidity crisis.

On January 13, 2006, the Company announced to split into three publicly traded companies: Tyco Healthcare, Tyco Electronics and Tyco Fire & Security. The spin -off was made on 29 April 2007. Since then, the healthcare division operates under the name Covidien, Tyco Electronics took over the range electrical appliances and hardware. The stand-alone company name (company) Tyco will henceforth be used for the fire protection and safety engineering division. Tyco Electronics announced in September 2008 until mid-2009 to close the two existing plants in France and production in the locations Words to live by ( Germany ) and Trutnov (Czech Republic) to relocate.

In 2008 the group decided to move its headquarters from Bermuda to Switzerland. The relocation to Schaffhausen was completed on 17 March 2009. This was accompanied by the conversion of Tyco International Ltd.. into a joint stock company under Swiss law.

1 October 2012 was the spin-off the division ADT Security System.
